What's new? Before we can answer that question, you first need to know what's old. There are two concepts used in manufacturing of ball mounts and ball hitches. They were introduced by Draw-tite in 1946. In 1952, Reese introduced their product line and Hidden Hitch followed in 1968. Today you have Valley, U-Haul, Curt Mgf., Master-Lock and a host of others all manufacturing the same look-alike products, which in reality, all perform about the same.
If you want to install your own ball mount and ball hitch, the first thing you do is get yourself two big wrenches. You put your ball hitch into the hole in your ball mount. Then, put your lock washer on the threaded end of the shaft, tighten the nut as tight as you can to prevent the ball hitch from coming loose. I believe Master-Lock, Reese, and Curt Mfg. have made a little progress toward the installation of their products. They have eliminated one of the wrenches and now use only one.
Last week I went to Meijer Thrifty Acres and bought a ball mount, complete with a 2" ball hitch installed and a hitch pin attached. I paid $17.50 plus tax. Then, I asked myself a couple of questions... If their retail price is $18.00, what did it cost wholesale? and when you subtract manufacturing cost from the wholesale price, there can't be much left for profit. As long as you don't have a competitive edge, the only way you can compete is to cut your prices. However, there is another way you can get the competitive edge which is my new product line.
My new ball mount and receiver are coming up next and when my whole product line is through the patent office, I will have at least 5 patents. The future is here, and it started May 10, 2005, when my first patent was issued and received, Pat. # 6889995.
You know what the old concept was based on, but, my new concept is based on rotation. If you own all of my product line, your bottom line will go through the roof. However, if you don't own any of my patented products, your bottom line will go into the basement, where you will have a lot of familiar company.
